Frequently Asked Questions

  • How Do I Sign Up For Services?

Schedule a Meet and Greet so that we may assess your needs and suitability for the services you are interested in. We will fully explain our offerings and fees when we meet with you and your pup.

  • I Only Want Occasional or Emergency Services - Do You Offer That?

Most of our clients prefer to sign up for a regular schedule, even if it's one playdate or a walk or two each week. If you need emergency, short-term, or only occasional services, don't hesitate to check with us since our availability changes and we may be able to accommodate you.

  • My Dog Is Fear Aggressive. Can You Handle That?

We have many fear-aggressive dogs as clients - and actually specialize in working with them - both for routine walks and for training.  Please let us know your concerns and experiences during your meet and greet so we can make sure our approach is individually tailored to your dog.

  • My Dog Has Some Quirks - Doesn't Like Men, Is Shy, Hates to Walk, Tries to Catch Airplanes (yes, we have a doggy client that does just that!) or Has Other Issues...Can You Help?

We love to work with such dogs! It's always wonderful to watch the progress they make as they come to trust us and you use the techniques we teach you to reinforce their learning. We have lots of techniques! And lots of experience! And we have stories to share!

  • How Do You Communicate With Me?

We use the Time to Pet App. You receive photos and updates of your pet's activities and you can request all services through the app.

  • What Payment Options Do You Offer?

We accept Credit Cards, Checks, Cash, and Venmo for all services.

  • Are Your Strutters and Sitters Employees or Independent Contractors?

They are employees! Therefore, unlike similar businesses that hire only independent contractors, our employees are covered by Unemployment Compensation, Worker's Compensation, Social Security, etc.

  • What Method of Training Do You Use? Are your trainers certified?

We adhere to positive reinforcement training only! Unfortunately, we have witnessed first-hand the damage done by negative/punitive training measures which instill fear and can lead to aggression in dogs. Our trainers are CCTBS and CATPC Certified.

  • What Happens During Bad Weather?

We have a staff meteorologist who keeps tabs on the weather for us. We closely follow school closures and may shorten walks and playdates during excessive heat and extreme cold or severe weather such as thunderstorms and snow events.  We may cancel walks and playdates during blizzards, hurricanes, nor'easters, and other significant weather events. We do not put your dog or our employees at risk! We provide as much notice as possible but weather is not always predictable. Please contact us if you have an emergency and we have canceled services since one of us will make every effort to take care of your pet. Pet sitting services generally are not affected by the weather!

  • Can You Explain Your Contract and Policies?

At the Meet and Greet, we will provide you with a packet of information that includes a contract and copies of our policies. We will review this with you and answer any questions you have. In addition, once you sign up with us, you are always notified of any updates. If you have any questions at any time, just ask.

  • How Do You Transport My Dog?

Walks often take place in your own neighborhood to maximize walking time for your dog. If your dog is going to a different location for a walk or a playdate, one of our strutters will pick up and return your dog in one of our vans or their own, insured, cars.

  • Where Do Playdates Happen?

We are fortunate to have access to safe, fenced-in yards where the playdates are held.

  • What days are you closed and do you still offer walks and pet sittings on those days?

We can accommodate holiday pet sitting and dog walking. The Weekend Rate per day (regardless of number of visits) is charged on these holidays: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, President's Day, Easter, Patriot's Day, Memorial Day Weekend, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day Weekend, Columbus Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving & Black Friday, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve. (We typically close for regular dog walking the week of July 4th and the week between Christmas and New Year's Day.) Holiday bookings fill up quickly so make your reservations early.
